Keep it strictly business? Her heart demands something more...

The last thing columnist Stanna needs is a fight with her hopelessly chauvinistic brand-new boss, Jake. The attractive man turns the office into an undeniably sizzling environment, but his column suggestions are positively Neanderthal! She's determined to reform Jake. He's determined to train Stanna. Neither is willing to acknowledge the electrifying attraction that pulls at them both.

"Crooks definitely has a sultry slow-burning writing style that builds anticipation at each turn of the page." - Zee, Fire Pages

"Crooks' L.A. CAVEMAN is a wonderfully written contemporary romance novel with a great storyline that was fast paced and kept my heart racing." - Romance Junkies

"L.A. Caveman is a well-written, funny, sexy, sweet story that you will enjoy" - Yvette Lowe, Siren Book Reviews

"Reminiscent of a Hepburn and Tracey movie with office romance and a conflict involving two very strong-minded and very philosophically opposed main characters." - Phoebe Imel, Addicted2Romance

"I laughed, I gasped and I tingled. Ms. Crooks has penned a riveting, funny tale about a woman in a man's world." - Seriously Reviewed

I don't like militant feminism, so the heroine got on my nerves. The hero wasn't meant to be likeable, but at least he was logical. He owns the business; he gets to choose what it produces. If an author or journalist doesn't like that, that's a really sad situation but it doesn't mean someone can just annoy their boss unendingly without consequence. Personal preferences notwithstanding, it was an easy to read office romance that had real characters with definite points of view. They eventually have to compromise or quit (it's a romance - guess which one), but neither one flakes out for the sake of sex which was a refreshing change. Aside from the female lead acting like a little kid deprived of a Sunday treat for a few chapters, it was a fun, tension-filled, humorous take on the idea of opposites attract.

The premise of this book was stereotypes. I get that. I did not get why everyone played up to their stereotype, would not compromise, or listen to the other side. Everyone was hurt by the opposite sex at some point in their life, and just decided the other sex was worthless? Come on, what a bunch of quitters. Stanna is just dumb. She lets Ian lead her around by the nose, and then spills company info to him after he is fired. She evidently has no remorse about doing that. Why not stop griping and get a new job? Oh yeah, the hot boss. Jake's story was so silly, it was unbelievable. His reaction to Stanna's big discovery? Wow, she's not manipulative after all. Bah! Then at the end, they come up with a compromise that solved the whole problem with no sweat. One that made sense from the get-go. Oh yeah, that no compromise through most of the book thing again. I'm not sure why so much time was spent with Telly trying to find a guy, but she came off as a complete ditz. The book was okay, but if you try to think about it while you read it, your head will hurt.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a little slow to start with and the characters' beliefs seem too rigid. But the tension and interaction between them was great.
I know this book had the typical stereotypes in it, but I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Laugh out loud in parts.
Cute love story, nicely done. Predictable feel good story. If you want something with pink bubble that's a book for you.
A nice and sweet romance with some drama in the mix. New employer hates the ideals of his employee but can't fire her as he wishes to due to a contract. They have to learn to deal with each other and their sexual tension. Overall a good read, well written.
This is my first review of a book on and I must say that I found L.A. Caveman to be a great enjoyable read. I could not put my down as I read this whole text in a 24 hour period ) I was immediately pulled into the story and found myself seeing a great Hepburn/Tracey like story playing out before me, with a touch of suspense/mystery, and a great romantic pairing that did not let me down at any point in the book. I was surprised by the way ALL of the characters came to life and made me care about them, and most importantly laugh with them. I loved the office staff and felt like I was going to work with Stanna & Jake at Men's Weekly each time they stepped off the elevator.

With all this said, why did I give this book a 4 star review rather than a 5? I wanted more of the Ian story, please do not think that there was anything wrong with Ian's story as written, my comment is just that I wanted more of the drama and friction that he brought to the story. I would say more but I don't want to spoil the story for anyone else )
The idea behind this book is great! But the plot is a bit choppy with co-workers dropping in and out and an ex-boss with connections to a never-really-named group of bad guys. The mob, maybe. There were these great moments in the book that kept it all hanging together. But the ending seemed a bit rushed and the sub-plot with the ex-boss wasn't really tied up as neatly as it could have been. A solid 4 star read.
